Many important victories in protecting the rights of people living with and vulnerable to HIV/AIDS have resulted from litigation, which is sometimes the only way to effect change. But litigation is usually expensive and very demanding of the time of lawyers and complainants. Many of the organizations and community leaders who are best placed to help mobilize strategic use of the courts do not have the money to do so.

Your gift to support litigation would allow lawyers and activists to bring forward key cases to advance and protect the rights of people living with or vulnerable to HIV/AIDS. With its extensive contacts among AIDS and human rights organizations around the world and its experience with a wide range of legal and human rights issues related to HIV/AIDS, the Legal Network is well placed to establish and administer for such a litigation fund. Your support in this area could mean the difference between laws that contribute to HIV-related repression and laws that protect the rights of some of society’s most marginalized persons.
