Problem
Making art can be an expensive pursuit, and very few artists ever actually earn a living from their creative practice. They supplement their income with teaching jobs, service jobs, or—unfortunately—through credit cards. But artists are wonderful at being able to make creative use out of small amounts of money, so with a little bit of support they can bring a vision to life.
The Gift
Your gift will cover 10% of an artist's initial grant from Creative Capital, the first step for making an artist’s project a reality. One of the unique aspects of our program for artists is that we make a multi-year commitment to our artists and will provide them with financial support at key moments in their project’s development. Most other organizations that fund artists only do for a year, but we work with our artists for an average of three to four years, the time it usually takes an artist to complete a project. Over that time our grantees will receive an average of $37,000 of financial and $26,000 worth of advisory support, which helps them develop and produce a project, premiere the work, and creatively capitalize on their success.
